I was going to do a post about dating and how we treat others and while that topic technically relates to what I’m going to talk about I’ll have to save it for another day.

Today is Mother’s Day and as I become older this holiday means more and more to me. I’m not a Mother yet, but one day I hope to be. Who doesn’t think about those types of things around the holidays? I know I sure do.

Here’s the thing though, life is hard, dating is hard and often times in dating I over analyze situations and mess something up that had so much potential. I have a temper, I’m sometimes not the most patient, but with that being said I’m going through life attempting to better myself. Not only for the man I end up with, but more so for my future children.

I cannot wait to be a mother. I cannot wait to experience that joy in life and help them to grow and learn. One time I was in a sacrament meeting and someone gave a talk and spoke about how we need to be examples to our children, even if we don’t have them now, they are looking down on us and will forever follow in our footsteps. That thought has stuck with me since I heard it. I think about it as I attempt to improve and as I am making choices in my life.

When I think about being a mother there are no words to express the feeling I get. I want to be the best that I can for them, I want to be an example, I want to be the type of person they can look up to. Being almost 25 and single can be super hard when it comes to thinking about having children, it’s tough thinking about the unknown and not think ‘How can I think about being a mother when I’m not even dating anyone?’ but just because I may not have a man in my life right at this second does not mean that I can’t be excited for my future.

Something I’ve come to learn is that patience is key in our Heavenly Fathers plan for us and as we have faith and trust in his promised blessings we will be able to get through the hard things in order to enjoy the good things. Life will always have it’s ups and downs and we may not always know what we are doing or what’s going to happen in the future. But as we do our best to lead by example it will help us to find joy in looking forward to the future.

I got the cutest bracelets from Proverb Band that have sayings with the scripture engraved on the inside, each time I wear them its a reminder to be firm in my faith and also lead by example.

Here’s to my future littles,

Lex
