Finally getting around to telling you all about Mykonos, Greece. You know the photos you see of Greece and how beautiful they are? Well, I’m here to tell you my photos don’t do it justice. All of the scenery was incredible. And I could go on & on about the food.
In Mykonos, we stayed in THE most incredible villa with a view and a pool. We even had a full kitchen which we put to full use. Our villa was just a short walk away from the abandoned lighthouse and showed a more green side of Greece. If you want a spot a little bit away from all the partying, this is your jackpot. Not only was where we stayed awesome, but our host was hands down the best, because we didn’t have transportation after flying to the island, she arranged private transportation for us to the Villa. Then on the first night she took us to the grocery store because we wanted to eat, but didn’t want to go out to a restaurant. She waited for us as we took forever deciding what groceries to buy and was so helpful.
Buying groceries and cooking at home is something I will probably do everywhere I travel now. There are a few reasons for this, one, I love to cook, two, it saves you SO much money, three, it’s the best to have snacks late at night if you need/want them.
One thing I wish I would’ve done more in Mykonos is go to more beaches! There are tons! We went to Paradise beach and it was amazing, much better than the beaches we experienced in Santorini. There was a DJ, lots of little restaurants and the nicest chairs! Not to mention the water is gorgeous! We took a short bus ride to get there and it was much cheaper than taking a taxi.
The best part of Mykonos was walking through the city center. There was all sorts of shopping and restaurants. It was close to the windmills and right on the water. And as always I was in awe of the buildings and flowers everywhere we went. Chapels, homes, shops, everything. Mykonos is the place for you if you love beaches, nightlife and shopping!
