Do I Have A Purpose? Part 3 of 5: Leading Life Into A Purposeful Future.

This one is going to be short and sweet-we’ll dive a bit deeper in part four.  For a while not knowing my purpose or feeling like I didn’t have one, really put me through the wringer. It became consuming to the point that I felt like I couldn’t make any decisions. As I dug in and really started to navigate how I was going to figure out my purpose or at least start on a path towards figuring it out, putting it into words, solidifying a foundation in where I was currently at and whatnot I started to figure out how to propel it into my future.

Once you figure out your foundation, you can start taking steps in your life to create a purpose and start moving more towards your purpose. You begin to make conscious decisions in your life now that will help carry your purpose into the future. Nobody else is going to figure it out for you-only you can do that. That was a hard truth that I had to come around to. Because then I could start doing something about it.

I took months and months of looking inwards and digging deep, asking myself the hard questions and it lead to me finally feeling like I had a grip on my purpose and that I could hone into it.

A big part of getting to that place was taking steps in my life that would lead me towards my purpose and help it to become my outlook daily instead of something I was striving for. I started small at first, implementing habits into my daily life, I would make goals and lists of ways that I could become and work towards my purpose. I’d go down the list and checkmark things off, this helped me not to feel stuck and like I was actually progressing towards something. Some examples of doing this are pushing yourself to become better and step towards your purpose instead of avoiding it. I shifted my mindset and made sure that anything I am doing in my day to day life helps to align me more with my end goal of feeling purposeful. I reminded myself of what I feel my purpose is and strive for that in everything I do, as I started implementing that mindset more, I started believing in it more and it made the entire process easier. Have you ever heard of the saying, “Act like the person you want to become.” I started doing just that, I still am, it’s a work in progress and happens slowly but as I started doing that I noticed how I was feeling more confident in knowing my purpose and feeling like I’m living a life that will continue to get me to my purpose.

What steps can you take in your life to bring purpose into the future? What things are you currently doing in your life that fulfill you and your purpose? Why does knowing your purpose matter to you?

Our lives are so short in the grand scheme of things, we all have a purpose and we all deserve to know what that purpose is! So start taking steps in your life now that will help lead your life into a purposeful future. The next part of this series will focus on creating habits that will help cultivate purpose. A HUGE step in really being able to live within your purpose instead of feeling like your simply finding it.
