It’s a new year, which typically means resolutions. But first I want to talk about 2018, honestly the last year was not the best for me. I had created resolutions but didn’t stick to them as life unfolded throughout the year. It was full of a lot of highs and even more lows. The year 2019 will be different. Instead of creating resolutions and not sticking to them and want to establish goals that I will actually accomplish.
As I was thinking about what goals and resolutions I wanted to have for this new year, and my thoughts went to a completely different place. Let me explain by first telling you a couple of resolutions that I came up with.
-Be more present in my friendships and relationships
-Start more conversations, always intend to inspire and make others feel loved
-Attend the temple once a week and read scriptures daily
-Find an opportunity to do an act of service or serve someone at least once a week
-Progress and grow within all three of my careers
-Work out at least 2-3 times per week
There are a few other goals and resolutions that I have, but one in particular stood out to me for some reason…..’Work out at least 2-3 times per week.’ Almost every person I know has some sort of work out or health goal and I think it’s amazing!
Personally, that resolution is going to be the hardest for me. I won’t go into too much detail about why-I’ll save the body positivity post for later. But as I began thinking about it more, my thoughts lead me to this: It doesn’t matter if I work out 3 times or 1 time throughout the week, as long as I’m trying and as long as I’m making progress towards my goal, that’s all that matters.
This goes for all of our new years resolutions. We can’t be too hard on ourselves. Trust me when I tell you, during 2019 you’re going to have awesome moments and you’re probably going to have some crappy moments. But as long as we are keeping the bigger picture in mind and keep attempting to make progress then we will eventually reach our goals and resolutions.
I truly hope that each and every one of you strives to reach the goals you have set for yourselves because you deserve it. Think about how awesome it will feel to end the year thinking about how much you were able to accomplish throughout the year. No matter how big or small your goals might be, keep trying! Maybe this was a pep talk for myself but I wanted to share because I want you all to know that I believe in you! Here’s to making 2019 our year!
Next week I’ll be sharing a behind the scenes video of this photoshoot! So stay tuned!
