Often times when we think about figuring out our goals and purpose we naturally gravitate towards thinking about it in future tense. But the reality is, we can’t begin to figure out our future purpose if we don’t know what our purpose is currently.
We have to have a starting point. Ponder it this way: You didn’t grow up automatically knowing how to read and write, you had to start with learning the letters, numbers and sounds first, this gave you the foundation to string things together and begin progressing towards learning how to read and write. You didn’t gain your muscle and physique or love for working out automatically, you had to start by learning how to do workouts that would help you achieve your personal goals to lay the foundation of where you’re at now. Any sort of progress, regardless of the area it’s within, requires a starting point.

Where you are currently at IS your starting point? And it’s not something to be ashamed or embarrassed by, because we all start somewhere. Our starting point of now will help us form our foundation of purpose later.
When’s the last time you really appreciated yourself? Have you ever sat down and thought about all of the qualities and characteristics that make you amazing? What would you list out when considering the type of person you are? Raw honesty is important here, but take a breath and don’t be so harsh on yourself. Look at these questions from a positive perspective.
I’m a firm believer that in order to ever progress into finding our purpose we each have to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate where we are at now, today, in this very moment. Who we are now is going to shape who we become in the future. Who we are now is going to propel us into our true purpose.
Now, today, in this very moment: You have purpose. Even though it may not feel like it! It may feel small or not quite as solid as you’d like it to be, but it’s there.

Appreciating where you are at now will propel your purpose to be that much stronger as you work towards figuring it out. I know it may seem easier said than done but if we fail to appreciate our purpose now, we certainly won’t appreciate it later.
Some ways to go about finding purpose in where you are now:
Take a few days even a few weeks to really sit and reflect on what makes you, you. Think about all the good qualities you have now and envision how they will be the foundation for your future. Try to reframe how you think about “now” use it to think of it as a learning block or stepping stone along your journey. Set a daily intention or purpose! This doesn’t have to be huge or grand, it can be something as simple as, looking for a highlight or beautiful moment within your day, staying consistent or present throughout the day, finding an opportunity to compliment or serve someone.
There are many different examples and ways to appreciate your purpose now, if you’re struggling or stumped reach out to me! I’m always happy to chat & brainstorm together!
Overall I want to reiterate that we can find purpose now and use it to build a foundation to propel us into really honing in to fine tuning our purpose long term! It all starts with appreciating your now!
