Who here can relate with going on a date only to spend the entire time overanalyzing, thinking “shoot did I say the right thing?” “Oh man is that a red flag?” “How do they think the date is going?” “Did I wear the right outfit?” “How do I flirt?” etc., the list could go on and on.

lifeoflex, blog, blogger, flowers, topshop, outfit, field, park city, dating, happiness, inspire, joyI am the QUEEN of over analyzing. Not only while I’m on a date but in my relationships in general. Always wondering and assuming the worst if I don’t get a response or reading too much into a situation. I’d like to think I’m not the only human being who has struggled with this. My mind will race a million miles a minute and it is THE worst when it comes to dating.

I think a part of dating is taking the time to analyze the person that you are attempting to get to know, but overanalyzing makes your dating life such a pain. Let’s be real it exhausts you. Dating alone is exhausting enough, add overanalyzing to it and it’s just mentally draining. SOOOO to all my fellow over-analyzers out there, I’m here to tell you to let it go.

Most times going through the emotional roller coaster is not worth it. You’re constantly putting yourself into overdrive when in reality, you are doing just fine! The people you are going on dates with will be interested in getting to know you more or they won’t. Holding onto the ‘whys’ and ‘what can I do differently’s’ aren’t helping you be better at dating. Once I decided to stop overanalyzing every little thing, my experience within dating has gotten 100x better! Because you aren’t meant to be with everyone you go on a date with, not every person will be your perfect fit. Take the time to realize this along with recognizing what you are worth. Having confidence in yourself and your own worth will help you to stop over analyzing so much.

lifeoflex, blog, blogger, flowers, topshop, outfit, field, park city, dating, happiness, inspire, joyIt won’t happen over night, and it takes a lot of work to get to a point where you stop allowing every little thing to consume your mind, but trust me when I tell you, it is worth it. Distract yourself with other hobbies, keep yourself busy, get into a mindset that helps coax you out of overanalyzing. It’ll take time, so don’t jump to frustration when you catch yourself still overanalyzing. As you work at it, you’ll see that it becomes easier. Best of all, you’ll see that you are actually enjoying dating and getting to know somebody else for once as opposed to being on edge and anxious about it. Being able to enjoy dating is a luxury we should all experience!

Some quick tips to ease up on overanalyzing:

-Be yourself, know what you have to offer & recognize your worth.

-Keep busy.

-Don’t wait by or focus your phone for a like, message, call, etc. from a specific person.

-Find a hobby.

-Focus on the positive.

-Mind your thoughts, pay attention to how you are thinking and when you start over analyzing keep yourself in check. Think things through realistically.

-Realize there are SO many people & options within this world, if it doesn’t work out with someone, that’s OKAY because there is someone out there for you.

Again, maybe you don’t relate to any of this at all. Maybe you know the feeling all too well. Every single person is different in their own beautiful way. Dating should be something we enjoy and overanalyzing can rob us of that joy. Life’s too short to overanalyze all the time! Go find the joy in dating!
